And we have some exciting news to announce and an idea for your coming week! This weekend we visited Starrberry Farms in Canaan after discovering them by chance (and wondering how we hadn’t known about them before!). There aren’t enough strawberries left in their fields for us to have them in the CSA this year, but we will likely have their raspberries in our shares in a few weeks! AND, there’s a good chance that we’ll be able to have their strawberries in our bags next year!
We’re so glad to have found this family farm whose berries are not only delicious, but they are also grown without synthetic chemicals. For now, there are still a few strawberries left in the field. It’s a you-pick farm, and you can get a quart of strawberries for just $2.50 if you pick them yourself! They are located at 7723 North Whippoorwill Road. You can find contact information, directions, and hours here: http://www.pickyourown.org/INsouth.htm#8OqpvSGfvrPHPxIT.99 . You will want to hurry and get out there, because the season is rapidly winding down – the cold late spring prevented the second blooms from setting, so the season is ending earlier than normal. You may want to call before you go to make sure they still have strawberries. Note that they’re closed on Saturdays!
